Body Odor Facts

You can know more about body and armpit odor by reading about the following facts:

The sweat that is produced by our body is always odorless at the start. There are two types of glands that produce sweat in our body – eccrine glands and apocrine glands. While the sweat produced by the eccrine glands will continue to remain odorless later on too, the sweat produced by the apocrine glands will start giving an odor when bacteria that are present under our armpits get attracted towards the sweat produced by them. Apocrine glands are found in the groin region and under the arms. The moist conditions that are present in the sweat produced under the armpits are perfect for the bacteria to keep on growing. The body starts giving out armpit odor because the bacteria release chemicals in the sweat under the armpits.

Any who sweats a lot is known to have the condition – hyperhidrosis. When this happens, there is a greater chance of such a person releasing more offensive armpit odor compared to other people who sweat lesser than them. Bromhidrosis is the condition in which people exhibit offensive body odor.
